I have always been passionate about designing and making meaningful gifts and keepsakes and was very fortunate to able to start my own business. Lauren Nicole Gifts (name after my niece) was started in 2004 and was a great way for me to have my own business, but still move around as an Army wife. My husband recently retired from the Army and we are now permanently located in Ouray, Colorado

Wrong thing to say!!!

I was in line the other day at a grocery store and I was standing behind two other people. There was a lady with two small kids and a newborn paying for her groceries. She was telling the cashier that her husband was in Iraq and how hard it has been. The guy behind her turned to me and said "that is what he signed up for". Wrong thing to say buddy!!! I really hate that special kind of ignorance. I just responded with "while he was signing up to serve his country, you must have been signing up to be a scumbag!" Some people just don't get it!!

Wow, what a jerk! That is not only rude, but to say that in front of her children, just plain wrong!

Wow. What a rude jerk. Seriously - great comeback! I am totally in awe of the men and women who are selfless enough to serve - including my husband.

Haha! Did you really say that? I wish i had the guts to say things like that!
I truly admire those who sacrifice so much to serve our country. They are the best!

I probably would have told him o shut his trap and asked him what he does for our country. Freaking idiot.

The nerve of some people, right?

My husband is currently serving in Kuwait (not nearly as stressful as some other areas in the Middle East, thankfully) and while I know what I was getting into when I married him, that never prepared me for the literal sacrifice it would mean for our family.

Thanks for understanding what each and every one of those brave soldiers serving abroad, and here on American soil does for us! (If not for them, that guy might not be able to voice that opinion quite so freely!)

GOOD FOR YOU!!!! That guy deserved a smack upside the back of the head with your frozen chicken. I live in a miltary town, and if he had said something like that around here he probably would have been taken out back and flogged seriously with no witnesses when the cops came ;-) It may be hard but grit out a prayer for him ;-)

Daily laying it at the Master's feet!

That poor woman...I am glad you stood up for her. Yes, her husband is self-lessly serving his country, but that doesn't mean that his wife and kids don't desperately miss him every single day. What an arrogant jerk to say that in her company. Man, what is happening to people's internal mute button? Geez...

Good for you. I would have loved to have seen his face.

Oh, a military spouce with their other half deployed and kids at the store is the wrong person to mess with!!! Mine has only been gone on and off lately - and it don't take much to push me over the "crazy people" edge :)
