I have always been passionate about designing and making meaningful gifts and keepsakes and was very fortunate to able to start my own business. Lauren Nicole Gifts (name after my niece) was started in 2004 and was a great way for me to have my own business, but still move around as an Army wife. My husband recently retired from the Army and we are now permanently located in Ouray, Colorado

My First Doll

My Mom started teaching me to sew when I was five. I started by hand sewing (of course my stitches were loose and 3 inches long). In sixth grade I made my first doll by myself for a school project. I just found this doll in a box when I was cleaning out stuff we have had packed forever. I remember that it took me forever to make it and I had to keep ripping out stitches and starting over. I remember fighting with my Mom because she wanted me to hand embroider the face. I waited until she took a nap, cut out a face from felt pieces and glued them on. Okay, Mom, I am finally admitting this after all these years....the doll would have looked better if I had embroidered the face instead of glued on chunky pieces of felt!

LOL...

She's beautiful!! Even with her felt face, she's adorable.

I love finding things and remembering all the memories that go with them.

Thanks for sharing.
