I didn't get the memo, but apparently we are now storing car parts in the flower beds. I asked my husband why and is answer was "because the garage is getting full and you won't let me keep car parts in the living room". This giveaway is a little different. The part in the picture came off of the car my husband is rebuilding. Do you know what the part is? The first person who leaves a comment on this post and guesses correctly will win a Vera Bradley clutch wallet. If no one guesses exactly what it is then the next best guess will win. My husband will be judging the comments on Tuesday after he removes the car part from the flower bed. The contest ends at midnight on Monday, June 8, 2009.
Hint: It is NOT a lawn ornament.

Well, here goes nothing...
My guess is that it's an Independent Rear Suspension system.
My guess is front suspension and steering.
damn I was going to say the rear end but Michelles answer sounds better
Rear end axle and bed frame?
My super awesome fiance says it's a front suspension and axel. That clutch is super cute!
I was going to say axel too...guess I'm not the only one!
I'm going to say an engine cradle?
axle... most definitely...
Ummm something to do with axles, wheels, shocks.
Your husband is gonna love reading these answers! haha
It is the front suspension with shocks and disc brakes on both sides!
front end steering assembly with axles, including shocks and disk brakes.
front end sub frame with independant front suspension. amsbolda@hotmail.com
Carborator! Is that how it's spelled? Ha!
I'm going to say Chassis. I have no idea what that is but I've heard of it before and no one else has guessed that yet (I may have spelled it wrong so please forgive me).

Front suspension where you can see the shocks, hubs and sway bar?
My guess is something to do with the chassis?
Darn, I was going to guess axel too. I'm clueless.
Looks like it might be that think that goes tick...tick...tick when I drive my car. But that's just a guess. It also might be that thing that goes vroom, vroom, vroom, tsch right before I turn off my car every night.
Hmph, typing all this makes me think I need a new car. :sigh:
And if I HAD to take a guess, I dont think i'll be winning the vera bradley wallet. :)
It looks like it belongs in the drive train somewhere. Transmission or gear box perhaps??
Oh boy! My first guess at the first look was that it was an old bike rack for the car. Mechanically sightful, I am not! Curious though! Great giveaway.
Adorable clutch.
That reminds me, "clutch" could the part have anything to do with that? (LOL)
My guess (with the help of husband) is Front end suspension. That really is a cute wallet!
partial frame including suspension and wheel mounts- how's that?? (I had part of this but had to ask hubby for help too :) )
It pays to have watched my Dad build cars when I was growing up. I could probably describe the inner workings of a handbag better, but I'll give it a try. The part is upside down - it's the front end of a chassis. I see the steering system, disc brakes, calipers, coil over shocks, brake shoes and rotors. Hmm...that's all I've got.
Blessings,
Marie

The car looks like an Anglia. Although the pic is labeled rearend, it is definitely a front suspension based on the steering gear and the lack of any drivetrain parts. I assume it is an Anglia front suspension(subframe), but it looks to modern for that. That would be my best guess.
I was thinking Axel, but what do I know, I can't even change my oil! That is what my DH is for! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the clutch!!!
I'm clueless. I'll just answer based on google searches. It looks like part of the front suspension from a front-wheel-drive car. It includes the engine cradle, steering gear, stabilizer bar, steering knuckles and steering knuckle arm.
I love the clutch!
It's a front cross member suspension or it could also be called a cradle and suspension. They are both the same thing, just different names depending on who you ask. My dad called it a cross member suspension and my grandfather called it a cradle and suspension. Don't feel so bad, growing up that's what our yard looked like. (It helps that I grew up with a dad that would never buy a new car; only older ones he could tear apart and work on :) )

That is the front clip from a car, including the upper and lower control arms, springs, rotors, sway bar, and front suspension.... :)
