I have always been passionate about designing and making meaningful gifts and keepsakes and was very fortunate to able to start my own business. Lauren Nicole Gifts (name after my niece) was started in 2004 and was a great way for me to have my own business, but still move around as an Army wife. My husband recently retired from the Army and we are now permanently located in Ouray, Colorado

Why men shouldn't go grocery shopping by themselves!

I finally went grocery shopping yesterday! I forgot that the grocery store here opens early, but only for self-check out and only if you have 20 or less items. I had a very full cart so I had 30 minutes to waste until the regular registers opened. I met an old man that did the same thing I did. He said that his wife usually does not allow him to go grocery shopping by himself. He then showed me the grocery list that his wife gave him. There were only four things on the list (milk, eggs, bread, and chicken), but his cart was full!! He had every snack and ice cream flavor that the grocery store carried. I just started laughing and helped him put it all in thermal shopping totes so that his ice cream wouldn't melt while we waited to check out. He said that his wife never lets him buy that stuff. He also said that he was 85 years old and that ice cream and cupcakes haven't killed him yet!!

Good for him! When I'm 85 I'll be eating ice cream all the time -- for all the times I've denied myself up until then!

I was going to say the same thing! When I'm 85, I plan on eating absolutely everything I feel like eating, and whenever I feel like eating it!

Great story and good for the old dude! I hope I'm buying that kind of "good" food when I'm his age :)

Oh my goodness, my husband does the same thing! Once I sent him to the store for diapers, just diapers. He was gone for ages and returned with a whole load of things... and no diapers! I had to laugh! And then sent him back! =)

What a cute, sweet story! But - you spoke the truth: Never let men grocery shop alone. I also found that even if I was with hubby, we would get to the check out with all kinds of surprises that he had added to the buggy! xoxo

That sounds like my Dad! He cooks and shops for like 20 people but there are only five of us!

That's hilarious. If I left all the shopping to hubby all we'd ever have in the house is milk, oatmeal, lettuce, tomatoes, and bananas!

Cute story. I always go to the store because mine will get only bananas and milk. LOL

I think I would have to say my husband is more responsible than I am to go to the grocery. He probably wishes that I wouldn't go!
Stop by my blog, I have an award for you!!

That is such a cute story and it's so true. God bless him for making it to 85 and enjoying the sweet things in life :)

I send hubby off for 3 things and he comes back with 10, so I know the feeling.
