I have always been passionate about designing and making meaningful gifts and keepsakes and was very fortunate to able to start my own business. Lauren Nicole Gifts (name after my niece) was started in 2004 and was a great way for me to have my own business, but still move around as an Army wife. My husband recently retired from the Army and we are now permanently located in Ouray, Colorado

Dear Telemarketers.....just venting.....

Dear Telemarketers:

I would love nothing more than to go on a giant shopping spree. I know that you love to call me 10 times a day and I really appreciate all of the offers to take out an equity loan on the current house I am living in. I understand that you already have an application on file from me (I wonder who filled that out). I am just throwing this out there, but I am pretty sure my landlord would not appreciate me taking out an equity loan on the house that he owns.

Also, I will have to check my records, but I am positive that I already won 24 cruises and 30 gas vouchers this week. I especially like when I answer the phone and the first thing I hear is a loud cruise ship horn blowing in my ear. Maybe if you made the horn noise a little more obnoxious I would bite.

I especially love when I explain to the telemarketer that I don’t own this house and they say “Well, I am sure we can still work with you”.

I really should stop answering the phone. I just can’t help myself!

Register on the "Do not call" list.
https://www.donotcall.gov/
That will help and once we cancelled our landline and switched to all wireless, no more solicitors! They can't find us.

LOL...I feel your pain!! We cut our house phone OFF.
We have 4 cell phones, we didn't need ONE more. BUT the other day my daughter, who is TWELVE, told me someone called her to tell her that her car payment was 2 months behind:)

Torch Lake Prep- thanks for that link!!!

This is the exact reason that I'm on the do not call list. I have no tolerance for that.

The worst is when you tell them that you're not interested and they keep talking. It's as if they're not human. They remind me of robots.

It is like "no" isn't on their computer screen so they just pick something else. A guy called my parents house (my uncle lived with them a bit before he died) and wanted to know if he was home and my mom told him he was dead and the guy said "if I could give him a good deal do you think he'd be interested" my mom just had to laugh...

You could tell them that you're quite busy at the moment. But if they give you their home phone number, you're willing to call them back at your convenience. When they say that they can't give you their phone number you can let them know that its not fair that they have YOUR number and call you at THEIR convenience AND expect you to cooperate with them, but you can't do the same thing back. Or you could tell them that you're willing to listen to them, but first they must talk to your imaginary friend Fred. Then say: Here's Fred! Put the phone down and go do whatever you were doing.

lol, i know they're rediculous. i used to work for a company that used telemarketers (seriously, i wasn't one, i was in sales who got on the phone after the telemarketers got someone to bite), and if you don't put yourself on the do not call list, and choose to battle the telemarketers yourself, you have another option. you can say (verbatum) "put me on your do not call list" and in theory, it's the law that they must do it. if you say "don't call here anymore" or "i want to be on your do not call list" it doesn't always work (or so i was told)...
